Lahore Police have suspended the entire staff of Ghaziabad police station after an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was accused of sexually assaulting an intellectually disabled girl inside the station premises, leading to major disciplinary action against police personnel over alleged negligence and lack of supervision.

DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran ordered the suspension of all 78 employees posted at the police station, including the station house officer (SHO), two sub-inspectors, eight assistant sub-inspectors, front desk officials and other staff members.
The action was taken after the DIG visited the Ghaziabad police station late on Monday night and found alleged failures in handling the case, including delays in taking action against the accused officer and not informing senior police officials about the incident.
According to police, the accused officer, identified as ASI Imran from the investigation wing, allegedly brought the girl from her home on a motorcycle after telling her family that she was required for questioning in connection with a police matter. He allegedly took her into a room inside the police station, where the reported assault took place.
Police have registered a criminal case against the ASI and arrested him. The alleged incident occurred two days before the mass suspension of police personnel.
Announcing the action, Lahore Police said the suspensions were carried out due to poor supervision and failure to fulfil administrative responsibilities. Authorities stressed that the SHO and senior officers at a police station are responsible for maintaining oversight of activities taking place within the premises.
“Maintaining discipline, effective supervision and a professional working environment at a police station is the primary responsibility of the SHO and every officer posted there,” Lahore Police said in a statement shared on social media, quoting DIG Faisal Kamran.
The DIG further warned that negligence and irresponsible behaviour by police officials would not be tolerated. He said accountability mechanisms were being strengthened at the station level to promote a more responsible and public-oriented policing system.
Following the suspension of the staff, Ali Zeb Dastgir was appointed as the new SHO of Ghaziabad police station to oversee operations and restore effective supervision.
Police have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation, while legal proceedings against the accused ASI continue. The case has triggered renewed scrutiny over police accountability and the protection of vulnerable victims within law enforcement facilities.
